This supports Vista 32 and 64. Try loading it in Windows 7 under Vista compatibility mode.

Just to be explicit, this is the same file that I had with Vista as well.

Chris, there is another thread here with the same topic but in all cases, it ended with one reply from dell, pretty well the same as the one above.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

Uh, no it does not work in any compatibility mode.  It has all of the errors mentioned in the post. It is the same version that came with the monitor.  There has been no update.

I have spent a couple of hours today getting shuffled around departments in dell and noone  can answer any questions.

How can dell sell a monitor with this software?

How do I escalate this to the apprporiate department?

Did you try the one for Windows 7 32/64? I am the highest you can escalate to.

Trying it now....I was loo9king for this file forever.  You can't get to it via the dell web site, at least not in a way I was able to figure out.

I'll let you know.

Thanks

Ok Chris,

This file you reference is NOT the lcdosd.exe file.  It is supposed to be, but it is the monitor driver.  Try it.  It is supposed to be the application but it is not, and the installation instructions on the web page are written for the lcdosd application which is not what is actually there!.  Someone has messed up on that page. The only application (lcdosd.exe) is from 3 years ago and it does not work with windows 7.

So, how do we get the correct file????

I presume that since the monitor is still sold, it comes with a CD.  How do I get a copy of the CD?  Do I call support and give my tag number?

Well, I just spent the last hour on the phone with dell technical support.  I entered my express service code, and was brought to the printer department.  He then tried to transfer me and I waited forever.  SO I tried again, and I selected the desktop department.  Again, I was told I need desktop support in Canada and I was transferred.  However, my express code was not enough, apparently the computers are too slow and we waited for 10 minutes until the dell computer brought up the code.  When it finally came up and I tried to explain the situation, the line went dead.

Tell me.  What is dells return policy on monitors?  If I buy one can I return it?  It looks like the only way I can resolve this is to buy the monitor again. Open it. Take  the file off the disk and then return the monitor and get my money back.

This is totally unbelievable.  Chris are you able to get me this disk?  Or should I buy the monitor, and waste lots of dells money in the process?

* Yes, but only inside the first 30 days from the invoice date.

Chris are you able to get me this disk?
* I cannot find a part number for the CD but have asked engineering why the driver download page does not offer the Utility Tool.

If your only issue is that you cannot change the Brightness via software, try this and see if it will do it:
* Go here
* On the top left, click softMCCS
* Click Run- Run
* Click OK
* Check I agree
* Click Next
* Click Start
* Click OK
* Double-click the softMCCS icon on the desktop
* Click Next 16 times
* Click Finish
* Scroll down and there should be a slider bar for Luminance. There is on my 2407WFP

HiChris,

Did you get my reply with my coordinates?  I'm not sure it worked.

HI Chris,

I sent you my coordinates I think.

The soft mcc application is interesting.  It detects many settings on my monitor that are not available via a menu.  The softmmc program however does not display anything but appears to only report various values.

Is there any software that allows you to adjust a monitor using this type of communications?  This monitor calibrates very well for photography but the blue channel is much too high therefore the calibration curve is not very linear.  If one had access to the rgb values (that softmcc shows) this could be eliminated and reduce the gradients that this monitor has.

Thanks

That is the only one I know of. On my 2407WFP I can change all manner of things with it from RGB to Contrast/Brightness. It must be because it can read the monitor DDC/CI.

Jumping into this thread.  I have a 3007WFP and a 3007WFP-HC.  I'm running Win7 64bit.  I installed "R152473.EXE", and now have a new tab "3007WFP Controls" but it's all grayed out.

What dead zone were you talking about before?  I haven't noticed one.
