AW2725D, cannot install M3T102 update

Hey guys,

I own an Alienware AW2725D and recently I have got notification that there is an update (M3T102) available. I have used the USB cable and connect the monitor directly with the PC's USB (no hubs, or any external devices used). The Alien Command Center shows that it is connected then I clicked update and it started downloading the update. Then the installation started only to show the message from the screenshot attached.

I'd appreciate your help on this.

BR,

Ventsislav

The AW2725D drivers page shows two firmware both called M3T102 but with different file size and checksum values. Which one did you download?

Hello,

That is a good question. I cannot see the exact version through the Alien Command Centre. I can manually download both. But I have tried several times this one below:

I will go through the FAQ again.

@vgnineone

The message means the firmware utility is rejecting the connected monitor’s hardware identification—not that the USB connection failed. For the AW2725D, Dell lists M3T102 as the latest firmware, so the most likely causes are an incorrect package, a regional/revision mismatch, or AWCC using a cached/incompatible update package

Recommended fix
Confirm the monitor model and current firmware
Open the monitor’s OSD.
Go to Others → Display Info or the equivalent information page.
Confirm it says AW2725D, not AW2725DF, AW2725DM, AW2725DT, or another variant.
Note the current firmware version and monitor Service Tag, if shown.

Download the firmware manually. Prepare the monitor correctly. Connect the monitor directly to the PC with the USB upstream cable. Disconnect other monitors temporarily. Disconnect other USB devices from the monitor. Keep the monitor connected to AC power and switched on. Disconnect HDMI/DisplayPort temporarily if Dell’s instructions for the package require only the USB upstream connection. Disable Windows sleep and monitor power-saving temporarily. Close AWCC, Dell Display Manager, calibration software, and other monitor utilities. Dell specifically recommends a direct USB connection and removing other cables/devices during firmware updates.

If it still rejects the update, Check the monitor’s exact model identifier and firmware revision carefully. Some users have reported that apparently similar AW2725D-family monitors may have different firmware eligibility, and the updater will refuse a package when the monitor’s internal identification does not match.

Because the updater displays “the firmware package is not for this monitor,” repeatedly reinstalling the same package is unlikely to help. First verify that the monitor is genuinely AW2725D and that the file is Dell’s AW2725D M3T102 package. If those match and a direct USB connection still fails, contact Dell Support with the monitor’s Service Tag, current firmware version, Windows version, and a screenshot of the error; Dell may need to confirm whether your particular hardware revision is eligible for M3T102.

The good news is that this error normally protects the monitor from an incorrect firmware image; it does not usually indicate that the monitor itself has already been damaged.
