Audio on a 24 inch?

I recently hooked up my xbox 360 to my Dell 2407 monitor. However, I cannot figure out how to get sound from it. I have the vga adaptor with the audio cables going into my speaker system but it isn't working. Can anyone help me out on this? Thanks.

Audio out from xbox > line in on sound card or amplifier. If using PC sound, open Volume Control and check that Line In is not muted, and also the volume setting.

You are definitely right.  I think that he may have been misled by the monitor is able to use hdmi. Even with the new benq 241w which has a true hdmi cable input. But the audio part of the hdmi cable are disabled. A hdmi cable is capable of carrying audio output as well. Herein lies the crux of the matter...
cheers

No, I was talking about the benq 214w which has a proper hdmi plug to allow an imput of a true hdmi cable & plug. http://www.benq.com/products/LCD/?product=812
