AY511 hiss

Question

Bought a U2412M Monitor and AY511 sound bar.  I am quite pleased with the monitor, no dead or stuck pixels, very nice. The AY511 sound bar attached easily and the sound quality is good.  However, the other day while working on the computer (no music or sounds playing) I noticed a hiss coming from the speakers.  Not terrible, but enough to notice when the room is quiet. If I adjust the volume level on the sound bar all the way down the hiss will stop, but the hiss returns by touching the volume up just 1 time.  Changing the volume (output) level on the PC has no effect.  I then turned the PC off, leaving just the sound bar on, hiss still present. Is this normal behavior for an AY511 sound bar?

I tested two of these in the lab. Both had a slight hiss but well within our specifications.

What are your specifications?  Mine has a hiss and over the months it seems to be getting louder.
