C3422WE, disable DPBS dock function?
I would like to support the following scenario with my C3422WE:
- Dell Laptop connected via USB-C
- Workstation connected via USB-B and DisplayPort
I would like to sometimes use my workstation (display the DisplayPort input) while leaving the laptop off. As it is now, it is impossible to keep the laptop connected and off at the same time.
Connecting the laptop to the monitor turns on the laptop. Disabling the 'Wake on USB-C dock' option on the laptop BIOS causes the laptop to not turn on when connecting the monitor anymore, but the monitor to turn off.
Using the power button on the monitor causes the laptop to turn on, which in turn causes the monitor to turn off some 30 seconds later when the BitLocker prompt times out and the laptop goes to sleep.
Is it possible to disable the dock functionality of the monitor so that one can freely let the laptop be turned off or go to sleep without affecting the power state of the monitor? This happens even when the DisplayPort is selected and is actively used.
Thanks a lot!

The C2422HE/C2722DE/C3422WE monitors all have the built-in DPBS (Dell Power Button Sync) functionality which cannot be turned off. See the User's Guide page 52. This is why the PC connected via USB-C is having issues.
The C2422HE/C2722DE/C3422WE #5 USB-C/DP port always sends power delivery of up to 90W. This cannot be turned off. You can try the following to see if helps when the PC USB-C goes to sleep or is turned off =
* Open the Menu OSD
* Go to Input Source
* Change Auto Select to Off
* Change Auto Select for USB-C 90W to No
* Exit the Menu OSD and retest

Dear Chris,
Thanks a lot for your reply. Unfortunately, disabling auto-select does not change the behavior of the monitor: whenever the PC connected to USB-C goes to sleep or shuts down, the monitor is turned off with it. Pressing the power button on the monitor wakes the USB-C PC for the cycle to start over. The only difference is that the DisplayPort input remains selected.
So far, the only workaround is to disconnect the USB-C cable, at the cost of no longer charging the connected computer. It's particularly inconvenient for scenarios where one wants to switch between using the connected computers for extended periods of time.
Sounds to me like the firmware should allow disabling the auto-sleep feature for inputs that are not currently selected. E.g. if the DisplayPort input is selected, don't go to sleep when the USB-C computer goes to sleep.
Would definitely appreciate any other possibilities.
Thanks!
