Calibration advice 2408WFP

I have just ordered this monitor, which I will be driving with the NVidia GeForce 8800 GT. Does anyone have advice on calibration hardware. I have been using the Spyder Pro, and suspect I will need to replace it with something more up-to-date. I would appreciate any advice and experience.

I've read that the 2408WFP needs the updated Spyder 3 because of its wider color gamut.

Is anyone using calibration hardware/software? Spyder 3 of Eye-One? Any experience with either of them and this monitor?

Thanks.

The combination of the lower contrast and the lower RGB values dims the output of the monitor sufficiently, but I also use it in a fairly brightly lit room.  I find that lowering these settings helps quite a bit with the extreme Reds and Greens that this monitor produces.  I also forgot to mention that I've tried to calibrate this to look as close as I can to the 2007FP that I have sitting next to it.
As for calibration, I've ordered a Spyder3 Pro, and it will arrive next week.  I can report back in on how things go with that.

Thanks for all this information.

FYI, I have put the question directly to both GretagMacbeth and ColorVision. ColorVision got back to my fairly quickly with specific assurances on the suitability of the SpyderPro 3, when the individual could have tried to bump me up to the Elit. (Whether the assurances are to be taken at face value or not, I can't say, of course.) I received a notice from GretagMacbeth that the individual responsible was on the road and would respond next week. That proves nothing, of course, but I found the differences in response interesting.

I just bought a 245T Samsung from Dell and I'm having trouble calibrating it with my Eye-One 2.

Not sure why yet...  My white balance is set to 6500k but I have been reading I could go warmer to 7500k and be okay.

When I have the Eye One adjust my contrast, I can't get the balance to come in correctly.

x-rite told me to skip the contrast step.
