Check the XFX 6800 display settings and make sure a digital display is shown.
If it's not, add it, then switch the monitor to digital input.

How do I add it? It sees my monitor as a CRT. Why?

You need to tell the card to send digital video. To set the card:
Open the display properties for your video card: right click on the desktop and select properties, then settings, then advanced. There should be a tab for your video card.
Open that and find the drop down that says analog display. Select digital display. On mine the is a detect button. Click that then switch the monitor to digital with the buttons on the front of the monitor.

Make sure both the DVI cable and the analog cable are connected before doing this.

Ok. I've done what you said. Everything went well. The card detected the monitor right away so now it shows 2 displays instead of one. It's set to display #1, which is CRT. When I switched it to display # 2, the monitor went blank, and the power button went from green to amber. The card automatically switched back to D1, and I was able to get a picture again. Is there some sort of switch in the monitor that needs to be activated or something? I don't understand why I can't get a digital picture.

One of the front panel buttons switchs the video source from analog to digital. The position seems to vary. Take a look here:

http://docs.us.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/2000fp/English/controls.htm

After you find the right button, do the detect thing again then switch the monitor while it's detecting.

You have to switch the monitor to the DVI mode. When you switch into DVI mode,(by pressing the button on the front panel) the monitor will display DVI (on a black screen) instead of Analog. You will only get a picture on the DVI input if both the video card is setup and the monitor is switch to DVI. (Make sure the DVI cable is attached.)

I went though the menu and there is no way to change inputs. It only acknowledges the analog input. How do I change the input on the monitor? It dosen't tell you how to do that. Is it supposed to be automatic or do I have to change it? It does not show any documentation for that proceedure.

The digital cable is attached. I can do everything you mentioned using the buttons, but there is no way to switch it to digital mode. How do you do it? I bring up the menu, I can go up and down, and go into the submenu's but nothing brings me to a menu that will allow me to switch from analog to digital.

jbanner2,

I want to thank you for all your patience and help. I finally got the digital input to work. After plugging in the digital and analog inputs, I had to reconfigure the card to use the digital input. When I did that the monitor went into standby mode because the analog input ceased. At this point I pressed the menu button and I got a message that read "Analog input standby." I waited and nothing happend. I pressed the menu button again, and I got the same message. I pressed it two times quickly and finally it switched to the digital input. I'm still not sure exactly how I did it, but it works. Your advice put me on the right path. Thanks again.

As you've noticed, the 'secret' is to not hesitate. If you push the button once, it will display the current mode... wait for a sec and it will turn off. You need to push it and keep pushing it to cycle through the available choices. :smileyhappy:
