Hi,
You could try this - find the 3007WFP.inf file on the CD or (download folder), right click and choose Install. If you want to see what it does, right click and open with Notepad.

I'd actually already tried that. No error messages, but the display still says 'default monitor'.

aah, ok. Have a look in Device Manager > Monitors. In the View menu, select Show hidden devices. Any entry for 3007WFP? You could try uninstalling the default monitor.

DavidAUK,

Remove the Default or PNP reference by the monitor and refresh the Device Manager. Then, force it to load the 3007 driver from the monitor CD. What cable are you using to connect the monitor to the video card? The cable should be the DVI-D cable.

Nothing useful hidden in Device Manager.

1. Opened Device Manager
2. Expanded the Monitors section. 'Default Monitor' is listed.
3. Right-clicked and chose 'Uninstall'. Monitors section is now missing.
4. Refresh.
5. Monitors section is relisted. Inside is 'Default Monitor'.

I don't get a chance before stage 5 to point in the direction of new drivers.

You probably need to reboot before it is uninstalled. You could try this:
Go to Systen Properties > Advanced tab > Environment Variables > New
Add these two:

Variable name: DEVMGR_SHOW_DETAILS
Variable value: 1

Variable name: DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES
Variable value: 1

Go to Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices
Uninstall any Default or PNP monitors
Reboot

Windows may still just automatically reinstall the Default or PNP driver though.

Thanks for the suggestion, but Windows automatically installs Default Monitor driver on reboot.

gpro,

"I feel your pain", famous quote from Dell forum or former U.S. president? :)

You always gotta reboot on drivers especially video card drivers if only to avoid minor issues.
My 2407 drivers took instantly, a fresh install every few months helps :)
