G3223D, ComfortView Plus, settings inquiry

I recently bought a G3223D with comfortview plus. when I use it at factory settings I get little to no eye strain. however, it is too bright for me to use at night or for reading. When I lower brightness/contrast I get bad eye strain and migraines. I've noticed that the online troubleshooting guide says "compliant with TUV Rheinland (Hardware Solution) at factory reset/default setting model". Does this mean that if the default settings are changed the comfortview plus effect is gone? Or are there only certain settings that can be changed without the effect being compromised?

<The Dell monitor Menu settings should be at Defaults. Brightness should be changed in the PC Display settings. DELL-Admin>
