Computer running too slow

For the past few days my computer seems to be running very slow.  It takes awhile to transition form program to program or website to website.

Any suggestions on making my computer what it used to be?

Thanks in advance.

well, this is what i would do myself-

1. click on tools at top of the internet explorer web browser-click on internet options-delete cookies, delete files, clear history. click appy and ok and exit.

2. download something like adaware 6 , and check for spyware , they may affect computer performance-

3.the last and probably most important thing-do a defragmentation of the hard drive

Sounds to me like you might have to many programs starting up with your system. How many little icons do you have down by the time? If it there are more than 5 or 6 you probably just have to many things running in the background. I found an awesome website I think you could get alot of help by reading through there Step by Step walkthrough on how to clear the unwanted items from the startup group. Go to there Computers page and click on the link that says, " What's starting up with your system?" This is a great walkthrough! Also info about Spyware removal. Spyware can be causing your system to get clogged up because they are all running, and using you internet connection.

Also if you have alot of unwanted or old programs you never use it is a good idea to go into the Control Panel. And then go into Add/Remove Programs and, only remove the programs that you know you are not using. That should free up alot of extra Hard drive space.
