Continous flickering/scrolling/waving lines
I just bought a Dell UltraSharp 2208WFP that I hook up to my non-Dell laptop. In the last couple of days or so (perhaps since I got it), the monitor has started flickering. There are lots of horizontal (or maybe wavy horizontal-ish) lines all over the screen. They give the appearance of moving up or down, or jumping around really fast. I am not sure if they are white or some other light color, but they are most noticeable in against darker backgrounds (gray especially).
So I was wondering is there a fix for this issue?. Currently is plugged to a wall outlet, I have tested STFC and I guess because is black background it does not show any lines up. I have tested in other laptop as well and same thing. I also made sure refresh rate is at 60hz. I'm not sure if the problem is getting worse, or at least more annoying. Since there is no flickering on my laptop's monitor I think it has something to do with 2208WFP monitor. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

allinurl,
How is the laptop connected to the monitor (VGA to VGA, VGA to DVI)? Have you updated the video card driver? Do you have the video resolution set to the monitor optimal of 1680x1050?

I would first update the laptop Radeon HD 3200 driver. Then, load the 2208WFP driver.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is connected VGA to VGA (my laptop does not have DVI), the resolution is at its optimal of 1680x1050. I have not yet updated the driver. Is this a Dell driver? I've been using the Generic PnP Monitor on ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphic card. Do I have to install an additional driver? Thanks again

I've just updated both drivers as you mentioned and still get the same horizontal lines. One of the things I just noticed is that after rebooting my laptop and get back to the desktop again, the lines were little bit less intense, but 5-10 secs later I got them back with same intensity. I'm not sure what I should I do next. Thanks

If you could find a desktop PC to check it on, it would verify if the monitor is bad or not.
