Contrast question, please help

I just setup my Dell Ultra Sharp 1704 and I'm using the DVI connectors. I tried to lower the contrast in the settings menu but for some reason, I cannot access it, I can only change the brightness of the screen. Does this happen when you use DVI connection? Anyone know a solution for this? Thanks a lot in advance!

I don't think you can change the contrast on your monitor. You may need or want to adjust the font point size  in display under the control panel by using the advanced tab. You may want to adjust the text using Cleartype  http://www.microsoft.com/typography/ClearTypeInfo.mspx

Use the software adjustments available via your video card.  At your desktop right click then select Properties then Settings then Advanced Tab.  Depending on the card, you can find the correct tab to adjust the contrast, brightness and sometimes gamma level of the video card.  I set the on-screen adjustment of brightness to the default (contrast cannot be adjusted when using the DVI cable) and then make all adjustments via the software - works great
