D197FP LCD Problem
I have a Dell E197FP LCD Flat Panel Monitor which I like very much.
The problem is I can't get it to stay "on" longer than 15 minutes of inactivity.
When my computer is not active my Dell Monitor shuts itself off after 15 minutes or so leaving a black screen. I have screen saver software that I would like to enjoy but right now I am unable to.
My old computer broke and I purchased a refurbished Dell from my computer guy. Since the monitor is plug and play, that's what I did. I plugged it in.
Now I want to adjust its properties but I have no monitor icon in my control panel.
I put in the CD but it only contains user documentation and drivers, no monitor installation. There are no buttons on the front of the panel that I can find that would controll on/off duration.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Wow! Tfhat was easy. Thanks.
Now that I'm reminded, I should have known how to do that myself.
One other point: Why do I want to turn off my "Hard Disks?"

JohnnyDiego,
* Right click anywhere on the desktop
* Click Properties
* Click the Screen Saver tab
* Choose one and set it for one minute (or whatever you want)
* Click Apply
* Click the settings or Power button to the right of the globe
* You should be on the Power Schemes tab
* Under the heading Power Schemes choose Home/Office Desk
* Under Settings for Home/Office Desk
- Turn off monitor = Never
- Turn off hard disks = After 3 mins
- System standby = Never
* Click Apply
* Click the Advanced tab (if listed)
remove any checks
* Click Apply- OK if you made any changes
* Click the Hibernate tab
remove any checks
* Click Apply - OK

Please, what does that mean?
Is that something important?
I'm just a guy who downloads music and reads stuff on the Net. I run AVG virus software now that my computer broke and a whole lot of viruses got discovered. So far I'm just checking my controls and I've found no scary stuff but I am deleting cookies that show up after my wife plays her online games. Lots of adware there. Am I in trouble?
Just checking.
So, Thanks again.

It is only a preference.
