DELL 1703FPT LCD

Hey, I've had a 1703FPT LCD Monitor for a couple of years now... and only recently have I run into several problems with the monitor.

I will leave the computer, shut off the monitor- come back and power it on. The light turns green, the LCD sorta gives a flash. But no picture. I don't get the test display menu either (when the DVI cable in unhooked).

Twice, I've played around with the cables to no avail (DVI and power). It seems though, for a split second when I yank the DVI cable out, I see the display test, but only for a split second.
Sometimes the power light will stay green even when no input from the computer.

I've left the monitor for several hours (more like 5-8 hours) come back, and usually it works.

What is the problem here? Is it a card inside that's going bad?

-Thanks,
Kevin

Kjacobsen84,

When this occurs, disconnect the monitor cable from the back of the PC. The monitor should go to the STFC (Self-Test Feature Check) screen. Does yours?

Nope, I don't get anything. Luckily it's been fine now for two days (haven't shut it off). Like I said, I can see the display test if I pull out the DVI cable at the right angle and it only pops up for a split second. The other night I left the monitor off overnight, couldn't start it still. Kept plugging and unplugging, finally got it working, until next time. Any other suggestions?

Hmm...Mines doing the same thing, when I hit the button to change inputs, it goes to analog self-test, when I switch it back, it goes to a black screen. Pressing the OSD button brings up a dialog box

"2: Digital Input
In Power Save Mode
Press Any Key on Keyboard or Move Mouse"

Problem is, it's not registering any mouse movements or keystrokes, as I just finished watching 3 different movies on that computer with the s-video cable going from my nvidia card to my tv. I can't seem to make it exit power save mode without accessing the OSD, and I can't access the OSD without exiting power save mode. And the kicker is : I got this monitor from a yard sale for $100 almost 3 months ago, so I can't even take it to a dell repair place for them to laugh and press a special sequence of buttons or something equally irritating and have it exit power save mode.

I unhooked the cable from the back, and it brought up the self-test thing.

Any solutions?
