For instance, while I was typing the above message, the dell navigation bar at the top of the page managed to burn itself noticeably in to the monitor.

How long was what you were viewing displayed on the screen that was buned in?

It may be to late for this but you might want to lower the brightness of the display. They come from the factory way to bright IMO.

My brightness is always turned down to zero.

I've had my 1905FP for about 6 months and haven't seen that problem. Do the images re-appear after the monitor has been switched off for a while and then turned on again? If so, it sounds like a fault in the display. Have you returned the settings to factory defaults on the OSD to see if that corrects the problem?

Factory reset does nothing, and yes, some of the images persist after the lcd has been off for 8+ hours.

Me too!  Got mine in April.  Burning in of images started about 3 weeks ago end of November.
