Dell 1907FP Install Driver

I have a problem installing drivers for my Dell 1907FP. I am running Windows XP. According to the site below: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R119568&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=158980 "Install 1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R119568.zip. The Self-Extractor window appears. 2.Click OK or Continue. The Self-Extracting Driver Installation window appears and prompts to extract files to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R119568" When I double-click the R119568.zip icon, the Self-Extractor window does NOT appear. Instead, I get a different window, shown below: http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/7308/popupwindowhs4.jpg Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I'm curious to know why you even want to install drivers for the 1907FP. Why not let Windows XP recognize it as a Plug and Play monitor? I could be wrong about this, but I believe the only thing the 1907FP driver accomplishes is to inform XP the specific model of your monitor when you open Device Manager.

The monitor driver adds the monitor's display modes to the Windows registry. This should only be necessary for very old graphics cards that may be unable to obtain this information from the monitor. It also contains a generic color profile for the monitor. Oh yes, it also adds the monitor name in Device Manager. Installation is optional.

The zip double-click behavior may depend on what archive program is installed and your file associations. Anyway, you need to extract the contents of the zip file to a folder somehow. Try the right click context menu. Then you can read the readme.txt file for further installation instructions.

edit: check if the files were already extracted to this location: C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R119568.

readme.txt
To manually install or update the driver, perform the following steps:

1. Click Start-> Control Panel-> and then double-click Display icon.
2. In the Display Properties window, click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.
3. Click the Monitor tab, and then click Properties -> Driver tab -> Update Driver.
4. When the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box appears, choose “Install from a list or specific location" and then click NEXT.
5. Check the "Include this location in the search" box.
6. Type the path to the location where the driver
files were extracted (most likely "C:\Dell\Drivers\R119568" ) or use the browse button to select the location.
7. Click Next -> Finish to complete the installation.

Thanks guys. I still haven't figure out how to install the driver. I have the problem fixed though. Adobe Photoshop says my color porfile is not running properly. I fix this by resetting the color profile of NVIDIA settings.

You might find Microsoft Color Control Panel Applet helpful for managing profiles, if you aren't already using it.
