DELL 2001 FP problem after turning on computer

I am using DVI to connect my 2001FP to my XPS PC, which has 256M ATI 9800XT. I noticed that within several minutes turning on the PC, the LCD screen shows a huge number of "bad pixels", in color red, green and blue. After another several minutes, all the bad dots would be gone. Another solution is turn off/on the monitor, Any idea how to deal this problem?

Try running the monitor in self-test, see if those pixels show up and disappear. If none, possible video card or driver problem.

I think that in the driver options for the ATI videocard, you can check off "Reduce DVI Frequency" or something similar to that and your problems should be gone.  This worked for me.

I have tried this "reduce DVI frequency", but the problem still here.

I noticed that the huge number of bad pixeles were on for several minutes, then the monitor tunrs whole black for a second, then everything back to normal.

After updating vid-drivers I notice for about 5 seconds the screen (2001FP) is all crazy with blue, green, red, etc. lines and dots. It then clears up and it is fine. Only does it once after updating ATI drivers (9800XT).
