Dell 2007WFP RevA02 - Class Act

Well, I called Dell, I think a day or 2 ago. They gave me a case number and a dispatch number after a 20 minute call. But sure enough when I got home today, my RevA02 monitor was sittin on my doorstop.

Now, I'm a graphic artist, so banding is a big no-no; unacceptable through and through. But I fired this up, ran the Gradient test, and let me tell you, it is looking SMOOTH! My faith in Dell's been restored! The monitor is RevA02 and Made in Mexico. Text looks sharp and crisp, and gradients are pixel by pixel.

My thanks to Dell and ChrisM. for the expediant service provided. I'm one happy customer. Will be boxing up the old A00 for shipment back tomorrow. Going to run this monitor through some gaming, but I don't expect any problems; if I do get some I'll report back here.

Thanks again!

The only downside to the monitor (and many others are reporting this problem) is that I've found 3 stuck pixels. Each are stuck lightly green. Being a perfectionist, they are annoying, but I think they won't affect the overall performance of the monitor or hinder me too much. Since they are green (the color the human eye is most responsive too) they somewhat blend into the application I'm using.

I saw these by making a 1680x1050 black image in Photoshop and then entering full screen editing mode. Not sure if there's any way to attempt to unstick these, but those are the breaks.

Of those 3, 1 is in the toolbar, making it hard to notice. 1 is in the middle right of the screen, and only when viewing a dark image in that area and focusing on it could you notice it, and the other is in the top right of the image, not as bright, so harder to notice as well.

I went through Chris until we hit the block where they needed me to move warranty information over. Rather than waiting on the person who I bought from to respond, I contacted Dell, informed them of the situation, sent them the URL to the posts Chris made, and he verified on their end. They then sent it out right then and there.

That's a nice little app, however it was unable to fix the pixels. (How long would I run the exerciser for?) The bottom and top one are light compared to the one near the center (brighter). THe program says a STUCK pixel is red on a black bg, but all these are green on a black bg.

If it's a stuck pixel rather than a dead pixel you might want to try a pixel exerciser like that found in a utility called Dead Pixel Tester, free from http://www.dps.uk.com/freeware_DTP.htm

Good luck.

Some guy reportedly ran a program called Dead Pixel Buddy with the screen color change feature in intervals of 2 seconds. He ran it for 12 hours and the stuck pixel was unstuck.

Wow...ran for 12 hours?!!? I'd be more concerned hurting other pixels in that area than unsticking the bad one. lol.

Just received my A02 today, no banding.
However, I found something unusual....
When I turned the power off, it will also turn off the usb hub of the monitor.
Is that normal for A02?
My A00 will keep the usb hub on when the power is off.

My A00 turned off USB hub when powered down. I doubt this was a change in any of the revisions.

Have you tried rubbing the affected pixels with a tissue on your finger (gently of course). I have cured a couple of pixels on my current screen by doing this (I think one was red, can't remember the other one).

Otherwise when you received your replacement screen, your satisfaction guarantee will have been reset, get it replaced if you feel that it is going to bother you.

My first 2407WFP Rev A00 was flawless, the second one had two problem pixels and I am waiting for Dell to get back to me, to replace my current screen with an A02.

My first 2007wfp monitor I recieved is RevA02 and it definitely has banding. I PM'ed ChrisM, and hopefully I'll be getting a replacement without any sort of banding. By the way, it is hard to notice banding except in gradient tests for my monitor, and the text is very crisp and sharp.

Dell's replacement policy is that anything with 5 or less is acceptable. They won't replace it.
