Dell 2407WFP "dirty looking screen"
Ive just moved up from a 19 inch CRT to the 2007WFP but the screen looks like it has a kind of haze over it like its dirty and needs a good wipe. I don't have much experience with flat screens and wondered if this is normal? Its very noticeable on lighter colours like white and hard on the eyes.

Not sure if it shows up on the pics becuase this is the only monitor I have to use. Its there all the time but very noticeable when you move a window round the desktop, it looks like the screen has not been cleaned in months.

It looks like you simply need to mess with the brightness and contrast settings. I believe that contrast will have that effect if too high or too low. Set it to 50 and that usually is optimal with a brighness of 100

This with help us make the distinction between a nice shiny surface that we all know(CD Case) and your screen. We need a reference object in order to clearly understand the problem.
Otherwise anything we see on the photos is distorted by the camera itself (noise, focus,...)

That is from the product page of the monitor, notice "Antiglare with Hard-Coating"
This is what is causing the "Dirty" problem.
