dell 30" monitors, which one?

Hi

This question is directed to the extreme professional/photographgers/graphic designers of you guys.

I am a professional photographer and in need of a 30" monitor. Which one of the 30" that are out there will do the job right for me? the 07' or the 08'?

I must specifiy that currently I am using the 2007 Ultra Sharp that is superior in quality and colors and when i had the new 2208 UltraSharp for a day here as an upgrade i was extremely dissapointed.

Now i don't know a lot about panels so if you can give me a detialed answer as to which one of the 30" screen will be equal in quality and overall color performace to the 2007UltraSharp, i would be greatful.

Thanks

Hi,
It sounds like your 2007 UltraSharp might have been one with a S-IPS panel (they used both S-IPS and S-PVA types). Both the 3007WFP-HC and the 3008WFP use similar S-IPS panels from LG Display. Both are wide gamut, but I'm not sure if they are identical in that respect.

"The IPS technology has always been better than TN Film in terms of color reproduction and viewing angles. In fact, S-IPS matrices leave no chance to other LCD technologies in the color-reproduction quality. They have soft and pleasant colors, which are natural and close to high-quality CRT monitors. That’s why nearly all LCD monitors for professional work with color are based on S-IPS matrices."

Other considerations:
The 3008WFP has a greater range of inputs and supports more display resolutions. It also has a comprehensive OSD (the 3007WFP-HC does not).

Thanks for the info! I wish there was a place to see the Monitor in action...

I had a 3008WFP for a day last week.  Long enough to get  it out the box, hook it up, become disgusted with all of the bad pixels, back into the box, returned for refund.  Dell's quality control is not so good, it seems.
