Hi. I faced a similar dilemma. Essentially I wanted to get two 24 inch LCD's for use in my home office. I noticed the substantial price difference between the E248WFP and the E2408WFP. I have heard people say the E248WFP has a cheaper TN panel. I don't need a ton of connectivity options, USB ports, or the ability to view the LCD from exotic angles. I heard people complain about how bad TN panels are so I was a little hesitant to buy the cheaper one.
However I went ahead and purchased a E248WFP with the thought that I could return it if I was not satisfied. I think it looks great! In the US the E248WFP is $379 and the E2408WFP is $699. You can therefore almost purchase two E248WFP's for the price of one E2408WFP. Plus I keep hearing more and more people complain about problems with the E2408WFP.
Once I get my desktop (currently using a notebook) I will buy another 24 inch LCD. I may simply get another E248WFP or I might try the more expensive E2408WFP to see if it really looks any better (and perhaps return it if it does not).
Bottom line - IMHO this is a nice LCD at a great price with a 3 year warranty. If you don't need the absolute best color accuracy available, exotic viewing angles, and the bells and whistles of a card reader, USB ports, connectively options - then give the E248WFP a try.
Thnx for the assistance, I've decided to try this E248WFP as the price of the E2408WFP is too much for a student like me. I might extend the 3 years warranty to 5 years paying $30 more.
