Dell self test feature check

Please help! I have a dell dimension E520 with vista home basic

                             19" LCD flat panel monitor,E197FP

                             Nvidia PX7200 GS TDH

A friend of mine installed the Nvidia PX7200 GS TDH just recently, because I wanted to use my 32" Panasonic

TV as a second monitor, which isn't quite working out yet,but I'll worry about that later.

The first problem I would like to get rid of is,the floating dell self test feature check that keeps floating on my

screen after I haven't been on my pc for about 10 minutes. When I shut the pc down the monitor green light

won't go to orange and the self test feature check is there again,so I have to turn the monitor off by the

power button. Can anyone help me? I'm only a novice when it comes to computers!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have the same problem with 2 new E248WFP monitors, and have many years of experience as a designer and computer user. I don't see how they can possibly fix it without replacing essentially a circuit board inside the unit. On the other hand, I'm using a DVI (digital) input on one of them, and it's fine, but that may not be a viable option for you (new video card). Sorry I've nothing better to tell you!

Hi,thanks for the input.I have dvi from computer to hdmi on tv,and my pc monitor is vga.Maybe

the vga monitor doesn't recognise the dvi connection or something. The monitor never had this

self test feature floating around my screen until I had the new video card installed.I suppose one

day I'll work it out! Thanks again for your response.
