Dell U3011 Max Resolution Problem with Latitude E6510
Hola,
I have a Latitude E6510, E-Port Plus dock, and U3011 monitor. The laptop has an NVIDA NVS 3100M with driver 8.17.12.5922
Using the Dual-Link DVI cable that came attached to the monitor I can only get a max resolution of 1920x1080.
Using the Dataport interface the full 2560x1600 resolution works.
The problem is I have two PCs that I want to connect to the same monitor and switch between them using the monitor's built-in source selector. The monitor only has a single dataport interface, but has 2x Dual-Link DVI - so I need at least one of the DVI ports to support the full resolution.
Is it possible with this Dell laptop, this Dell dock, this Dell monitor, connected with the Dell supplied DVI cable?
1. Does the laptop support Dual-link DVI? I can't find the E6510 User's Guide.
2. Does the dock support Dual-link DVI? The E-Port User's Guide isn't clear.
3. Per the U3011 User's Guide Dual-link DVI is supported.
Best Regards,
Emilio.

Dr. Emilio Lizardo,
None of the docks support DVI-D Dual Link. So your locked at the Single Link resolution.

In theory, yes. But I have never actually tested dock DisplayPort -->DP to DVI-D cable --> U3011 DVI-D.

Hola Chris,
Thank you for the timely reply. That's truly unfortunate about the dock.
Will the following work plugged into the dock's Dataport interface and connected to the monitor:
Dell Part# : 330-1270, DisplayPort™ to Dual-Link DVI Adapter Cable
Best Regards,
Emilio
