Dell U3014 Rev A03 Backlight bleeding

I have a hard time believing that Dell would spec out a premium, near-professional quality monitor with the following backlight bleeding characteristics...

From a conversation on 17 Oct 2013:

"I just received a U3014 Rev A03 30" monitor.  The silky colors are really striking.  However, there is a big problem with the backlight bleeding through the bottom corners.  It's distracting when scenes transition from light to dark, and is especially noticeable when the screen is completely black (though powered).  Is there a fix for this problem?  It _is_ a problem, and not by a little bit.

This photo shows the monitor on with a black background. Notice the bright bottom corners.  (This shot was taken from about 4 feet away)

This shows the monitor off

Another photo of the screen showing significant backlight bleeding

That is the policy. There is no fix that I know of for this. If inside the first 30 days from the Dell invoice date, you may return the monitor,  no questions asked.
