Since USB webcams are based upon standard conventions, I see no reason they would not work. Software might be an issue, but there are third-party Mac developers who make such apps as iChatUSBCam that should recognize a Dell monitor integrated webcam.

Have you tried writing to Ecamm, makers of iChatUSBCam to see whether they can help you out? They seem pretty amenable about working with people.

I have contacted Ecamm Network and requested that they review this thread. I will report back on any feedback; who knows maybe they will join as a member and provide direct feedback here.

The webcam does NOT work with Mac. I tried everything possible, including the link to ichatusb mentioned on this forum. If anybody knows how to make it work, please post it here. Otherwise, I am returning this and suggest no one with a mac buy it! Thanks all.

Thanks. I will try writing Ecamm and see if they can help. If so, I'll let everyone know.

Okay, Ecamm did respond and here is the text from two of their quick messages as they were heading off to MacWorld:
Hi Jim:

Thanks for the link. I'll take a look when I can. We're heading off to MacWorld in a few hours so I'll be pretty busy this next week. Do you know anything about what kind of camera is in these monitors? If they're Vista compatible then it must at least be a UVC compatible camera. Can you get a picture from the camera in any program?

Thanks,
Ken
Hi Jim: You might want to look at this thread. Kind of confusing but might help: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5628942

Thanks,
Ken
There's enough to warrant hope, and I am sure that they will follow-up further when they finish MacWorld.
