As far as I know, the main difference between the two 2407WFP revisions is that the A04 has a fully functional 1:1 pixel mapping capability. This means that you can now choose to run the monitor at lower resolutions (than the native 1920x1200) and the monitor will display each of the resolutions in the correct aspect ratio (4:3, 16:10, or the beloved 16:9 HD), with a pixel-to-pixel mapping of the resolution making each one look "native." Revision A03 would fail to correctly display certain 4:3 and 16:9 resolutions such as 1600x1200 and 1080p, respectively.
I've finally got Dell to agree on shipping an A04 to me after 4 hours of talking with the tech support. They "realized" that the problem I mentioned above was indeed a technical issue.
As for the banding and oversaturation issues, there aren't any anymore in the Desktop mode of the monitor. Besides, the monitor allows for extensive colour and contrast tweaking so you should be able to adjust the settings to your taste.
If you want to find out the differences by those who have actually received them, and are starting to put them the paces checkout this site:
A03 and A04 Differences Happy reading (you might want to go the last page first).
I shall still endeavour to obtain the A04 in this part of the world, but at least now have the peace of mind re banding and oversaturation, if I am forced to settle on the A03.
Unlike Eizo, LaCie or NEC, which are often recommended for photography ( but are beyond my means in any case), Dell is well established locally, very reasonably priced, and have a good after-sales service, hence my obstinate pursuit to purchase this monitor.
