2 things to do here.
You have to set your flatpanel to digital input. Usually this is done by pressing on the - button on your monitor. Make sure you dont connect both connectors, either the blue cable (analog) or the white one (digital). If you connect the digital cable and the powerled goes amber directly, theres a big chance your videocard is messed up. Let me guess, the nvidia fx 5200. It happens a lot with this vid card. There is a tool that can force the dvi-settings. Contact dell tech support. If this tool doesnt fix the problem, the vid card needs replacing.

Hello,
I have same problem with Dell Dimension 4600 & flat screen 1703FP. (my message on November 12 in this forum). Indeed, a Nvidia FX5200. Changed by Dell Tech support (EMEA zone) once, then by a ATI 9800Pro.
But problem still there. Screen message indicated "Digital input in power save mode ..."
USB cable is OK (test done by another one) and screen tests were OK. I checked the BIOS to see if power settings are in S3 ... Yes. So, changing the graphic card by another type could avoid the same problem for the future, but for now, solution is needed to wake-up the digital input.
What is the toll you are talking about (software ?). Could we downloaded it from Dell website to be able to wake-up the DVI setting. Thanks in advance (in the hole since 3 weeks now).
Cheers, Saltwater
