Does anyone else here experience screen-freezes with 2000FP's?
I find that a lot of 2000FP's freeze after several minutes/hours of use. Turning it off is then impossible because the power-button (and all the other buttons) don't respond at all. The only way to turn it off then is to unplug the powercord and upon replacing it, all of the lights switch on, there is no video and none of the buttons respond anymore. I'm usually told by the Dell Technicians to unplug it and hold down the power button for 15 seconds to rid it of any remaining electricity and to reset the screen, but this either doesn't help at all or only works for another half an hour.
Since our company has many of such screens (80 or 90 or so) of which a good 35% has shown this problem, I would like to know if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them, as most Dell Technicians I talk to say that they've never heard of such a thing (which is odd as I must have reported over 20 or so of such cases by now).

OZgrin,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
If you plug this monitor into another machine does the same thing happen?

OZgrin,
What video cards do you have in these systems? Are they Dimension systems or Optiplex ? Does the DVI issue that is circulating in the Dimension Monitor Forum relate to you with these monitors? Please read the post below to see if your issue is related.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one with this problem, but unfortunately I must report to you that Dell has not offered me any more solutions to the problem. It seems that Dell is not aware of it, as every time I contact Support they treat the case like it's never happened before.
Don't they keep logs...?

You are not allone, this also happens on the other site of the world (including the reaction of Dell).
Mine was replaced however, I'm now in the third month and checking the 6 referbished monitor!!
2 out of the 6 had the same problem.
And indeed Dell pretents to never have had this.
I hope you can get this solved..
(I can not give any other help then to ask for a replacement)

It seems to me like those monitors get general power failures after having been inactive but powered on for some period of time.
Whenever one of my monitors has this problem, all of the LED's go on, including both the orange and green LED near the On/Off button. I know this sort of issue can be hard to trace to it's origin, but I was thinking along the lines of built-up static electricity.
What do you guys think?

Hi,
I don't think so, but as you set it is hard to trace, I had exactly the sam problem. All LEDs on including the orange and green for the powerbutton. But this was with a referbished monitor right out of the box.
This still accured after two days when monitor had to get alive after being in standby mode. For your information monitor was connected to a grounded powersupply and should therefore not be troubled with static energy.
What does cause it is also a ridle for me.
Hope you will find out what it is.
Regards Willem.
