DVI-D vs. analog
Hi everyone,
I received by Dimension 8300 with a 1901 flat panel and a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card.
I know this is a real newbie question...but what's the difference/benefit of connecting the monitor with the DVI-D cable vs. the analog cable? Will I get a better picture quality? Or is it beneficial only under certain circumstances?
I thank you in advance.
Frank

Without a doubt, use the DVI-D connection. Your monitor's picture quality and performance will be much better under all circumstances. Your LCD monitor is digital. If you used the analog connection, your monitor would convert it to a digital signal but only at a loss of quality and performance. The analog cable and connection capability is supplied with the monitor only because some machines don't have digital output capability...generally machines with integrated graphics cards have only analog outputs.
