E173FPf died after 1 week usage.
Hi,
I bought a Dimension 5100 back in September 2005; it came with a 17" E173FPf flat panel.
I used the Dimension, but never used the monitor, because I was happy with the monitor I already had; the monitor stayed packed in its box, exactly as I received it from the factory.
Recently, I passed the 5100 onto my sister, including the monitor, which had never been out of the box.
The 5100 worked fine, just as it always has. But the monitor died after 1 week; completely died, no display, no front panel indicator, nothing. I tried several power leads, but to no avail. My first thought was perhaps a blown fuse, but on looking at the thing now, I can see there is no way to get into the case.
I bought it in 2005, so the 12 month warranty is up (it sat in its delivery box for the whole warranty period, stupid mistake)
On searching for the model number, E173FPf, I see that quite a few people have had similar problems. All the solutions seem to involve replacing internal parts.
So, any clues as to how I get it working again?
Thanks.

Call dell and see if you're is truly out of warrenty.
But if everyone else is replacing internal parts, that would most likely be your best bet. I've done several myself
