E248WFP automatic power save problem on digital input setting
Hi,
I have owned an E248WFP monitor for about 8 months now, and have recently come across an issue while trying to run a Playstation 3 console through it via an HDMI-DVI cable: the monitor automatically enters power save upon registering the digital input, and does not seem to respond to any amount of tinkering with the PS3 display settings. when the PS3 is not switched on, the floating colour test window appears - the fact that it changes when i switch the PS3 on suggests to me that the monitor recognises the input, but I'm ignorant about this sort of thing. All I can say is that i'm fairly certain the problem has nothing to do with the PS3 display settings as I have tried everything in the dashboard menu, and the digital input has worked properly once before, playing a game on the same PS3. VGA input from my dell XPS unit works properly.
Professional help or advice would be appreciated,
Thanks,

Does this occur with all PS3 games?
While connected to the monitor, power off/on the PS3. Does the monitor show anything?

Chris,
the monitor responds to the power-on by entering power save mode, where previously the self-test feature window was displayed.
I'm actually thinking that the hdmi-dvi cable might be damaged now, because when i use it to run my dell xps computer through a samsung hdtv it works but i can't get a good resolution. My theory is that a pin was damaged and partially removed from the hdmi connector while i disconnected the cable from the hdtv, leaving a small piece in the tv input socket. I've ordered another cable and i'll reply again to confirm or ask for more help with the issue.
