If these are CRT monitors, then the image would be clear on both displays. You would notice a slight difference in clarity between a 19" and a 17" CRT monitor when they are both at the same resolution.
You will notice more of a difference in clarity between a 19" LCD display and a 17" LCD display when both are at the same resolution. The pixels are actually the same size on both, but there are more of them in a 19" LCD display than in a 17" display. LCD displays have an "optimum" resolution setting which will let the LCD provide you the best image clarity. Check the specs on different LCD displays to find what this setting is.

Since both of these displays have the same preset "optimum" resolution, you should take the opportunity to view what some of these displays actually look like at a local computer store.

was beginning to think there wasnt anyone about!
so really a 17in monitor would probably look clearer than as it would have smaller "pixels"?...
