Test it out with a dvd player...

Then you will have eliminated the fact that the component is stuffed.

Mine died and I had to get reaplacement under warranty.
I was only using a dvd though.

You might have to bte the bullet and get a new one.

problem is I don't have a dvd player that has component inputs.  I can borrow one (maybe) but I'm thinking it wont work either.

Yeah, I reckon it probably wont, but at least you will be abel to tell the tech support that is is 100% stuffed.
It's only component, but I thought the same thing.
I bought this to use dvi, and the best possible dvd quality playback which is componnet. So I wanted a new one.

My screen went all pink once before. then upon turning power off and on it worked fine again for a while...then it stuffed up weeks later.

this one has been running happily for ages now.

BTW do you have an A03?
Does it have the banding issues?
My g/f is looking at buying sa 24" with a new pc, but she does a lot of graphic design work, so i want to make sure all is well before buying another dell 2407.
Mine is ok for my needs, but there is banding (A02) but it might be a problem for her.

, I just used the CheckeMON app that Chris-M suggested for banding and the image was beautiful.  There was maybe some VERY minor banding on one of the colors (just a tiny bit between the red and blue) but overall the picture was great.  Sigh.. everything else about this screen has been at least satisfactory for me.  I do have an issue with it being too bright and the whites being too saturated in some instances but that was OK for me, and I was willing to live with it.

Also this one has no dead pixels and now I can see there is no banding.  I just wished the component inputs WORKED!!  :smileymad:

hahha
Yeah this monitor is sun tan material.

Try running desktop mode at 35% in the OSD tools :smileywink:

Yeah get it changed over man!
Can you play your xbox from dvi for the time being?

Isnt there some hd cable that will fit?
wouldn't that be better quailty than component?
Or is component better?

That's not really the point.  I don't want to have to buy another cable (vga) just so I can play it on this monitor, when there are component inputs right there.  They are supposed to work but they don't.  I don't even care if the image quality is less that awesome because it has GOT to be better than composite.

I've had my monitor (Rev.A02) since September 2006 and had it replaced once already, as well (Rev A03). I also had my component inputs quit working using my XBOX on Dec 26th (conspiracy???).

I have been on the phone with Warranty Tech Support for an hour now trying to diagnose the problem. They are sending me my second replacement.

Call Warranty Support, be patient with them as they walk though their process of diagnosing the problem, and get a replacement.

You'll get to keep your monitor until you get a replacement. In the meantime, use the composite (ughh!).

yeah i know,.. i'm pretty sure i can get a replacement since it's only 3 months old.  I dunno if i want to go through the hassle though, but i just might have to.  I've already gotten 1 replacement, and Dell did that very well the first time.

However, you mentioned that yours quit working... mine NEVER worked to my knowledge.

I'm also having the same issue. I was testing my component inputs today on my Dell 2407WFP, that I received just 2 days ago, with my PS2 and all I got was a black screen. I have to return the screen anyway because there's a small scratch on it.

Weird thing is, when I told to the customer service that my component inputs weren't working with my PS2, they said "it can't work with this monitor, it needs an adapter", but they couldn't tell me what adapter. Is that true? I never heard of such thing before. Don't you just need a cable and that's all?

All,

My 2407WFP components were acting up. This is what I did to solve the issue.

* Powered off the 2407WFP
* Disconnected all cabling from the bottom of the 2407WFP (including the power cord)
* Held down the 2407WFP power button for 15 seconds (it was just a guess based on my troubleshooting with the W5001C plasma tv)
* Reconnected only the VGA cable and the Xbox 360 to the 2407WFP component
* Reconnected the 2407WFP power cord
* Powered on the 2407WFP
* Once onto the windows desktop, I powered on the Xbox 360
* I then pressed the Input button and switched to #5 component. Xbox 360 came up fine on the 2407WFP component

* I then powered off the Xbox 360, disconnect it from the 2407WFP component and hot swapped in a Phillips DVD750VR DVD Video/VCR combo DVD player to the component. It also worked.

sedra4,

You can accept the Used replacement and test it, but, I think it will get confused just like your New one. After testing, send the one back you do not want.

Wow, it worked.

Thanks a BUNCH Chris.

I'm so glad I don't have to ask for another replacement!

ChrisM you seem to be the man to consult on this. I have a 2407-A03 LCD monitor that has been happily connected via a component cable to a Sony HD digital decoder for HDTV. This combination has worked perfectly since I bought the monitor in January. However I am now getting what appears to be a power save black screen after a brief (split second) display of the feed from the decoder. I have tried the removal of cables/power cycle reset - no luck. I have tried the troubleshooting with holding down the menu key and + then power on, release then press -. No message appears which I take it means it's getting a signal. For the time being it will work when connected to my PC via DVI cable but this is no help. S-Video doesn't work either. I've verified that there is no problem with the Sony box as it works perfectly on my plasma TV.

What next? This does seem to be some kind of design/firmware issue with this series of monitors does it not?

Thanks,

Mark.
