With LCD you measure the screen diagnoly, and with CRTs do the same but instead only measure the glass screen.

you only measure the screen if you want aproximate screen size most of the time they include the borders so a 17Inch CRT usually has a 15-16 inch viewable screen

How can I get the overal dimensions of a monitor?  I have a workstation that constrains the overall height that can be used because of a built in light.  Width/depth/height dimensions given in specs are, I believe, for the screen.  Where can I find info about the max and min height of the "complete Monitor", including the stand when the monitor is up at its max height, and when it is squashed as low as it can go?  The monitor I've looking at:  Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20 inch Widescreen Falt Panel with Height Adjustable Stand.  Thanks
