How is 2007FP's viewing angle?

How is the viewing angle on the 2007FP? I was looking at the similar Samsung 204B and it's viewing angle is problematic for me. My widescreen 20" Apple Cinema has ZERO variation in viewing angle as I move about. Is the Dell closer to that or closer to the Samsung?

I intend to use the screen rotated to portrait, so "up/down" change of the screen when in normal lanscape mode is what's most important to me. (That translates to "left/right" in rotated mode.)

(I know the 2007FP is 4:3)

Forget Dell.

If you get really lucky you might get an IPS panel with very good viewing angles (Same screen type as the Apple). But most 2007fps are PVA panels with really bad viewing angles. I know because I received one before I knew the score. It is even worse than Samsung.

Would you buy a car that the wouldn't dell you what engine you would get. Randomly they would give you a good Toyota engine or poor Lada engine?

This is what you get when you buy Dell.

A good screen to get is the HP 2065. It has a good IPS screen and they don't randomly slip in something else like dell.

bytor65,

THANK YOU. I was unaware of the S-IPS-based HP LP2065 4:3 screen. Got it for $379 from NewEgg ($419 minus rebate.)

It even better matches the 30" Apple Cinema Display I'll be setting it next to! I did not think I could find an S-IPS 4:3 20" out there.

Thanks again!

Here's my new setup, including the HP LP2065. Thanks for the advice!

Sweet They look made for each other.

I am trying to find a deal in Canada on one of these. Currently $550 here while $400 in USA. Hardly fair... Should be about $450 with current exchange here.

Hm, that is unfortunate for those in the land of the red leaf.

I got it at NewEgg for $419, $379 after rebate. It has two DVI inputs and amazingly comes with 4 rather thick, high-quality video cables: two DVI-DVI and two DVI-VGA. Oddly no power cord came with mine tho (standard PC mains cord however). Great screen.
