HP 15-db, cannot detect 1905FP

Hello,

I have an HP 15-db0xxx laptop running Windows 10. The graphics card it uses is AMD Radeon Vega 8. I'm trying to set up a second monitor, a 15 year old Dell 1905FP, for use at home. I purchased an HDMI cable with a DVI adapter to connect them. When I go to System Settings --> Display Settings and click "Detect," my laptop can't detect the monitor. I've tried checking for updates, downloading a new graphics card driver, and restarting the computer. It still won't detect the 1905FP. Should I use a different kind of cable to connect the two, or do I need to download a different driver? It looks like the 1905FP also has a VGA port.
