Huge problems with Dell 2408WFP

Hi,
I have bought this monitor in Italy. After receiving it I've see some huge problems.

First of all I have the 2408WFP-b model (dunno what 'b' stands for). Overall the monitor is good but have some cons that are not-so-good for this class of monitor (and price) so I'm thinking if a replace is necessary... but I would like to know the comments of some expert.

The worst thing to me is that this monitor suffer of strong color banding (on gradients). I have tried every preset (from factory preset to monitor standard preset) and I also have hardware-calibrated the monitor (via the eye-one GretagMacbeth calibrator) but the banding doesn't go away. My settings are Brightness:30, Contrast:62, User-Color with R:82, G:89, B:86. The monitor is connected via DVI-D through an NVidia 6600GT. The color temperature was set to 6500 K with gamma at 2.2. I've made the gradients banding test with some tools around the web with the same results (strong banding).

Second... I have a backlight bleed on the upper left corner... this is clearly visible when I show a 100% black image full-screen but doesn't hurt too much since is quite extreme to have a black background. In films or web-surfing the bleed is not visible at all. On the white side, I have (luckily) no problem at all.

The third problem to me is that the 'sharpness' of the monitor is not well adjustable. The monitor support 5 levels of sharpness (0, 25, 50, 75, 100). Default is 50 but it's too strong because on fine details/font often the sharpness change the 'color'. I mean.. If a small font is blue then the sharpness 'paint' a pink color around the edges (of the text). The value of 25 is too weak since is cleary unfocused.

I have bought this monitor mainly for it's graphic capabilities (the wider gamut panel) so to me the gradients banding is a huge problem... and seems impossible to me that an S-PVA panel have such kind of problems (I have an old 17" of another brand that is a TN+Film and doesn't show color banding at all !!!).

Please I would like to know (with your support) if there's a way to solve these problems or if a replace is necessary.
Thanks!

First problem

I think a replacement will fix this, but i am not sure.

Second problem

Mostly every lcd has black bleeding. I think a replacement will not fix this problem.

Third Problem

This is set in the firmware. A replacement will not fix this problem. Maybe a new revision in the future.

This is a customer to customer forum. Please call your local tech support number ASAP. In the US, we have 21 days from the date of invoice to return a defective product, and get a new one. I do not know the time frame in your country.

I'll try to contact the local support and see if is possible a replacement.
Thanks again!
