Intermittent color loss

I’m having trouble with the color going in and out on my Dell monitor. The back light will flicker and dim a little and the red & green will go monochrome. All I’ll have is blue. This may last for a day or a minute. It seems like a power connected problem either in the house or computer--something like a compressor in an AC unit coming on and the house lights will dim for a second—or a brown-out. It is also 4 yr. old—and that’s why I’m thinking Backlight problem.

I’ve been through the usual steps. Dell does not support this model anymore.

I have set the timing down to 60Hz and adjusted color and brightness. Done the auto adjust.

Hoping someone has been through this particular problem or might know the life expectancy of this model or backlight with 4yr. moderate use. 21” Dell UltraSharp.?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks very much,

Thanks for your response.

No, that's not possible now.
Is there another way to check the video card?
If that's what you have in mind.

Thanks,

Steve

scfcory,

How do the colors look during the Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)?

* Turn off the monitor
* Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
* Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating red/green/blue/white dialog box should appear on screen against a black background. If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective and should be replaced while under warranty.

* If you have a service tag number associated with your monitor, you may use Chat or Email support to setup the monitor exchange.

* If you only have an Order number associated with the monitor, you must call in, 1-800-624-9896. They will need the following information -
20 digit PPID number on the back of monitor
Name, address, phone, email address
Order number
Issue
