Just bought 2407..some thoughts

First its mexico 03 made in august. No banding , no dead pixels the only two real complaints I have is the front is scratched with multi scratches all in same small area and it appears to slightly bleed backlight in upper top right corner. Oh another thing probably THE thing that bugs me the most is the scrolling is god aweful really. But that could just be LCD tech at its finest, Im not really sure.

What Im curious about is warrenty/return options or exchange(including if I keep it down the road options). I left it default 3 yr whatever is was I forget. I may not return it or might, on the fence about it.

Im using DVI by the way although Ive tested vga as well. I'm just not sure what I want to do yet. Anyone have any thoughts or answers.

Why on earth would you want to keep it?
What would you do if you bought a new car with sratches etc..
cheers

Should not be any scratches, so call tech support, and get another monitor if you are not happy.  Keep this one until the second arrives to see if the replacement does not have any scratches, is not refurbished, and no dead or stuck pixels, not to mention banding as well.   Your call, but having scratches on a new monitor would set me off.  They may even give you some money off this one, if you keep it.  Of course this is again your choice, so think it through.

Kevin, if my car has scratches, I would make an airbrush paint to cover it up and it would be much nicer :smileyvery-happy:. Just kidding.

I think you should ask for a new monitor, not a refurbished one from Dell since it is still under the 21days return policy. If Dell won't send you a new one then you might want return it. When I bought the monitor, the price is the same as two 2007WFPs, don't throw your money away for a damaged monitor.

Why, have you seen all the issues you could have to deal with....I mean really. My luck return it and it'll be a 02 revis or worse refurb 02 or god knows what. I know you're right, which is why I asked about return /exchange and what exactly Im in for..

Unfortunately I've noticed minor scratches on the bezel, black frame, upper left and right corners from a China 2407 A02 monitor, and the refurb's are worse. Mexico A03's no bezel scratches, none anywhere on 2 so far, 3rd one on truck for delivery today.

If you want to extend the Dell warranty to 4 or 5 years you have to return it, at least that what I was told, after a two-week run around and stayed after them. You cannot extend the warranty with Dell as soon as it ships and that would be about a few hours after you just placed the order. First they promised to do it on a manager’s approval then stated a lame excuse. Dell stated their DOMS system would not accept warranty changes. They could if they wanted to but they won’t. So see the following options.

1. If you want to return because of the warranty options DON’T tell that to the rep., they will try to get you for restocking fee and shipping charges. Just state the manufacturers defects: bad backlight leak and scratches unacceptable to you. Dell will wave restocking due to manufacturers defects and should pay the return shipping one way or another.

2. If you want to keep this one anyway, because a minor corner light leak isn’t to bad, the scratches are minor and no dead pixels which only 50% of these LCD’s are no dead pixels. If you purchased with a VISA platinum or qualify for a visa warranty services program, register with visa extended warranty for a matching Dell warranty for a free fourth year. Keep track of all your records . A lot people don’t even know they have that VISA option, they don’t read their benefits brochure.

If you don’t have visa option, return for manuf’s. defects re-purchase and don’t forget the 5-year, I have those, I want a working monitor for 5 years even if it cost me 49.00 now.

Scrolling is a blur, well I guess, but .pdf's seem to be O.K.

Hope that Helps.

Good Day:)

It is suppose to be new, 0 hours, but I see the dilema, no dead pixels. I wouldn't wait to long, sooner the better or just live with your decision. If later probably going to get a refurb. Best to take care of issues as soon as they arise.

Also found out from menu that well over 150 hours have already been put on the monitor before I even recieved it. Which kinda annoys me.

Just s with so many things to deal with taking the risk of sending it back or whatever my options are is'nt that simple. Also was this suppose to come with a dvi cable because mine did'nt.

If they'd fix the 1:1 mapping and make the component input usable it'd still be worth it. Its a nice display, but its still an lcd the biggest real issue I have is blurring on movement but thats lcd for ya. Im still fairly happy with it, its just all the nip pick things are getting annoying.

Dell should provide a new LCD replacing this one and send you a prepaid shippnig label with the packing list, but you have to ask for it.
Yes, you are suppose to get a DVI cable, Anything missing from my boxes, I'm on the phone immediately.

Just for the DVI cable alone, they may want to send you a whole new package and you replace what you need, just be sure to tell Dell that DVI cable was missing initially.

Dell says it suppots partial 1:1 mapping, or at least RadXGe said it, I've had games display at 1600x1200 if that's what you mean.

Hope that helps.
