LOGGING ON

Hi (not sure if i'm in the right board ) , here goes back in january we bought a Dell dimension 8300 with service pack one , the problem is when i switch PC on the first screen comes on quickly but the welcome screen takes about 2 mins surely this isn't right , as a few friends have comments on how slow this is , has anyone any ideas how to solve this problem .   Many Thanks

You may want to try eliminating programs starting up in the background that could be causing problems. See the following Dell Knowledge Base article for further information:

What is the Microsoft® System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG)?

Also, you may need to run an excess software removal tool on your system such as AdAware or SpyBot.
