menu function greyed out when using DVI input on 1704FPT

I recently got a 1704FPT flat panel and have it connected to my ATI Radeon 9250 Video card(with DVI out) in my desktop. I notice if I use DVI connection, some of the menu functions on the monitor are greyed out. For example, after I clicked on the menu button on the monitor, "Positioning", "Image Setting" and "Audio" are greyed out so I can't select them. However, if I use analog connection, I can select those functions. Is this normal? Thanks.
