Missing pixels in 15" Flat Panel

I recently noticed a few spots on my LCD 15" flat panel monitor.  There are about 3 small dots, one red, and two blue ones.  At first I thought my monitor was defective but after doing some research I found out that this problem is normal in LDC technology.  The dots are basically "missing pixels."

I was just wondering if I am correct in assuming this is normal and wanted to know if most people with dell flat panels had this same issue.  Perhaps I am worrying about nothing.

You have struck a controversial point. Manufacturers claim that (typically) 4 or fewer bad pixels are OK, although it also depends on the location on the screen and proximity to each other. However the quality of the manufacturing process has improved to the point where most panels have no bad pixels. If you care about having a perfect monitor you must be careful how you buy it. You can use the 30 day return policy on a Dell monitor bought separate from the system, however a monitor bought from Small Business could be subject to a restocking fee. Monitors bought with a system would require returning the system. If you buy locally or from an online vendor, check their return policies carefully.

(FWIW, I've bought 4 Dell FP monitors, 3 other FP monitors, and two notebooks in the past 2 years and none of them have any bad pixels. )

Thanks, I have found 3 missing pixels on my monitor so far.  I bought the monitor with my computer so I don't think I am going to return it.  You really don't even see the missing pixels unless the background is white or entirely black.  And all of the missing pixels are near the border of the screen, not in the main area.

I am just curious how common this problem is with other people who have Dell FP monitors.  It seems you have been lucky.

Occasionally you can bring back a stuck pixel by very gently rubbing the spot with your finger, either gloved or through a soft cloth. Give it a try.
