Monitor DC socket?

my (second-user) Dell monitors all have the USB hub's in-built and I've noticed there's a separate 6vDC input socket on the back panel also - is that to allow the user to provide a separate power source, such that the USB hub will continue to power devices when the monitor it's self is powered down? If my assumption is correct, does anyone know a part number for the unit so I can investigate purchasing one please?

The DC socket is designed to power the monitor soundbar (speakers). It does not bring power "into" the monitor. There is no way to get around the fact that if you turn the monitor off, the USB ports also turn off.
