Monitor locked - cannot unlock

I have a Dell Trinitron Ultrascan monitor (D1025), purchased a few years ago.

All of a sudden, as I reboot, the monitor goes in lock mode and I just can't unlock.  The display is off by about 25% to the right, and there's this funny green X over a monitor on the left.  When I press the central button on front of the monitor, the X turns into a green key - whichever button I press next, it goes back to an X.

Help??

Unlocking the Controls

  1. Press one of the arrow buttons beneath the contrast () symbol.
    The option OSD appears.

  1. Use the left-arrow button to select Unlock mode ().
    The OSD closes 30 seconds after you release a button or immediately if you press the option button ().
