monitor on powersave mode

I moved my computer from one office to another.  When I hooked it back up, it says the monitor is on powersave mode and to use the PC to turn it on.  How do I do this if I can't see anything on the PC?  Turning the PC on and off doesn't do anything - the monitor still comes up on powersave mode.

I thought I had broken the monitor so I brought another monitor in that was working fine on another Dell and as soon as I plugged it into the computer, it came up and said that the monitor was in powersave mode.

I do know that the computer is working because I am able to network into it from another computer.

Can someone lend some advice?

Hi!

I had the same problem with my new Dell system. Dell told me the tower was defective. They are sending me a new one but when I connected my old Compaq monitor to my new dell everything worked. Help!

Sincerely,

I know the computer works because I can network into it from another system and access all of my files, etc.  And I hooked up another previously working monitor and as soon as it was plugged in, it gave me the same message - the monitor is on powersave.  After doing some more research, I read where someone's monitor was doing this and it ended up being a video card problem.  When I get back to work on Tuesday, I'll fiddle with the video card.  If reseating it doesn't work, I'll try a new one.

I'll post the results in case there is anyone out there that has the same problem.

FYI: I've got the same symptoms. Have a 1801FP. Just came in one morning and the monitor would not wake up from powersave, neither in digital nor in analog. tried reseating video card with no effect. more later...pontus

All, have the 1801FP monitor and Dimension 8300. Got a new video card (in 2 days!), and now everything works fine.
