The answer could be with the software associated with your video card.  I have the nvidia fx-5200, and it gives me the option to rotate the screen image by 90, 180 and 270 degrees.  This feature is actually quite useful with the 1703fp monitor since you can rotate it and view more of a document.

I have 1703FP Dell ultrasharp monitor with the same graphics card as you -- the fx-5200.   Bot hcame with my Dell 8300.  Where is the software to do the rotation of the screen image?

Thanks!

That display option comes with the updated drivers available directly from Nvidia.  Go to

So the monitor/system didn't come with the software to rotate, but requires a download from nvidia.  Is that right/

In any case, are the n-vidia drivers stable?  Is there any reason to maintain what came with the system (Dim 8300/1703FP vintage Feb. '04)?

Thanks,

Dan

I also have a dimension 8300 purchased in February.  Dell's drivers are several iterations old.  I've been using the newest Nvidia drivers (released March 15) for 1 week without any problems.  Before that I was using the Nvidia drivers released in November.  Both drivers inproved performance and added features.  With the newest drivers, the game Halo finally plays smoothly.
