monitor powers on and off rapidly while making weird sound

My son splashed water around the area where a power surge strip lay, into which is plugged another  power surge strip into which is plugged in the power cord of the monitor.  I don't think that much got wet, but 10 minutes later, the screen flickered once, and 3 minutes later flickered again, but this time the screen went blank and started powering off and on rapidly while making a electrical buzz sound when on..

Would someone know what the issue may be and how to address it?

The monitor is a P991 Dell Trinitron, plugged into a self made desktop running Windows 2000 (No prior issue regarding the monitor.)
