Monitor problem following Windows update

After performing a Windows update last night and rebooting, my monitor is very distorted and the fonts are huge.  I tried to correct my setting thru Control Panel but it will not accept my changes.  What do I need to do to restore the original view?

Dawn823,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Reinstall the video card drivers back into the system. If you need information on installing video card drivers you can view the FAQ listed in the Video Conference Forum.

Hi Dawn,

Was this a critical Windows update, i.e., did you get one of those little green globes in your tray telling you that there were updates ready to d/l?. The reason I ask is that yesterday my son installed such an "update" on his 8300 and the day before, I installed one on my other son's laptop. It looked and installed just like the thousand or so other Windows updates I dealt with but, as it turns out, its a trojan and deposits a program file" WinUpdte.exe" and other files like "WinKA.exe", "Downloader.Agent.2.s", and "Downloader.Agent.2.T" Anyway, it took me a while to remove it even with virus and spyware scans. Look to see if you have C:\Program Files\WndUpdates. If you do, go here for some help on removing it http://www.polderware.com/message_boards/mboards.mv?action=show_message&go_category=EN0000000002&go_msg=0000019010\

Best regards,

Tom

P.S. to Dell-Jesse: Even if this is not Dawn's problem, it may be a good idea to give everyone a heads-up on this.

All of the updates were directly from the Windows Update page.  I'll look tonight when I get home and see if it's the virus file.  Thanks for your help.

Hi Dawn,

If you got them directly from Windows Update, there shouldn't be a problem.

Best regards,

Tom
