Monitor Problem

I recently upgraded my Dell B110 computer with 4 Gb RAM and Win7.  After doing so my Dell 17 inch Flat Panel monitor stopped working properly.  I replaced it with the same monitor from another computer and it worked, so the problem was with the monitor, not the computer.

When I turn on the computer, the monitor shows the dell logo, and the power button glows green.  After about 3 sec, the power button changes to amber and nothing else happens.  If I change to another computer, the same thing happens.

Any ideas?

Randal1800,

If the monitor fails the Self-Test, it is defective.

Does the self test run automatically?  How do I tell?

* Turn the monitor off

* Disconnect all monitor cords from the computer

* Disconnect the monitor power cord from the rear of the monitor

* Press and hold the monitor power button in for 5 seconds

* Reconnect the monitor power cord to the rear of the monitor

* Turn the monitor on

* The floating red/green/blue/white dialog box should appear on screen against a black background

ChrisM,

I did as you suggested and I get the floating colored bar.  So I assume the monitor is not bad, I will try to replace the cord that connects the monitor to the computer.

If you have other ideas, I would appreciate it.
