Monitor problems

Just today, out of the blue after two plus years with this Dell, I was playing Pogo games and in the middle of the game the monitor went back and wouldn't come back.  It was like going into hybernation, but wouldn't come back.  I had to manually turn the system off.  This happened twice this afternoon.  What does this mean?

Tks!

cdtcpa,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

What monitor is it that you have connected to the system?

cdtcpa,

Try putting the monitor in its optimal resolution.

Setting the Optimal Resolution: Dellâ„¢ E771a Color Monitor User's Guide

For optimal monitor performance while using the Microsoft Windows operating systems, set the display resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels by performing the following steps:

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Display icon in the Control Panel window, and then click the Settings tab.
  3. In the Desktop area, move the slidebar to 1024 by 768 pixels. Then click OK.
